Leading Norwegian bookstore chain launches customizable card store using Gelato Air ecommerce platform
Norli, one of Norway's largest bookstore chains has launched an online personalize greetings card store in just two-weeks, by partnering with fellow Norwegian company Gelato.
The bookstore has sold greetings cards in its 102 shops across Norway and is now entering the growing personalized greeting card market. Using Gelato Air - a multi-channel ecommerce platform that provides the Norli branded storefront and handles the printing, shipping and payments - the store ,with over 30.000 designs to choose from, took just two weeks to go live once the decision was made.
Norli owns the customer relationship, including all user data and is able to take advantage of the revenue opportunities without investing in front/backend printing infrastructure.
"Personalized photo greeting cards are witnessing strong sales as consumers are increasingly looking to provide a personal touch with self-designed greeting cards” says Caroline Heitmann, E-commerce director at Norli. Caroline continues: “With Gelato Air we extend our in-store card offering to the web, further enhancing our omni-channel strategy. Implementation of Gelato Air required virtually no in-house resources - we were online 2 weeks after making the decision to extend our portfolio and access this revenue opportunity!"
From ordering birthday invitations to wedding thank you notes, the new service, powered by Gelato Air, is available on any device with internet access, including smartphones and tablets.
Globally, greeting cards are a 30 billion USD market. Printed personalised greeting cards are a growth segment within this giant market. The personalization of products is a global trend along with taking photos with the smartphone: according to recent research, there will be over 3.6 billion smartphones in use globally in 2016 and consumers will upload over 5 billion images per day.
