Gelato includes Japan, the Caribbean, Mexico, UAE and South Korea in its global network

OSLO, Norway. Gelato today announces that it has successfully launched operations in Japan, Mexico, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In addition they will start to deliver to the Caribbean, expanding to local production in 29 countries, reaching over 6.3 billion people across 111 countries.

The new markets are the latest in an ongoing commitment to be the world’s largest cloud printing network and to meet the needs of global enterprises.

Steve Harding, Senior Vice President in Gelato says, “The printing industry is $800BN, more than 50 times larger than the music industry. One of the main challenges is that global companies tend to produce prints centrally and ship them across the world. This is not sustainable considering the challenges our planet faces. Since 2014 we have grown from production in nine countries to close to 30. By adding four new countries with local production we take important steps towards decreasing shipping distances for our customers even further.”

Gelato´s customers are global enterprises such as Lufthansa Cargo, Jotun, ESI and Kenes Group, which have many sites across the world. Gelato transforms global brand management and enables organizations to print on-demand through local printers, rather than centrally and shipping across the world. Gelato sets a target together with customers to reduce overall print volumes by 50% and associated transportation distances by 90%.

Ivan Simeonov, Marketing, Kenes Group says, “We host conferences in more than 100 cities and provide services to over 160,000 participants around the globe each year. Accompanying promotional materials are needed at these conferences and Gelato is absolutely key in making that happen efficiently.”

“It’s essential to have the right tools in place when it comes to coordination and consistency of printed material, especially when operating across many cities and countries. That Gelato continuously expands its global presence is invaluable. Being at the forefront of global conference management, and quickly becoming one of the world’s leading PCOs (Professional Conference Organisers), it’s extremely valuable to know that Gelato not only meets our needs today, but is prepared no matter where in the world we need materials in the future” adds Simenov.

Harding adds, “We’ve never underestimated the challenge of connecting the world’s printers but the complexity of the process is unimaginable. Everything from setting up legal entities in countries to ensuring the platform caters to local data storage requirements, but we’re doing it and radically improving the efficiency of an entire industry. We’re methodically working through the challenges and adding country after country to ensure we meet the needs of global companies.”

In 2017, Gelato added the BRIC markets (Brazil, Russia, India and China) to its network. In 2018 in announced the addition of 30 more countries, including Singapore, the US and Germany.
