What you will be doing

The role represents a critical function within Gelato Network Operations to continually improve capacity, service and costs of our carrier network ensuring we consistently meet customer promise. Reporting to the Global Head of Logistics, you will have end to end ownership and accountability of one or more strategic markets. You will be managing several modes of transportation for both B2C and B2B customers.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Use existing (and create new) metrics to identify and eliminate defects in transportation
  • Develop and maintain relationships with our carrier partners
  • Manage performance of carriers (e.g., On time Delivery)
  • Identify, negotiate and onboard new carriers into the Gelato Network
  • Support contract management and compliance of existing and new carriers
  • Support new market and product expansions
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes with carriers and upstream print operations partners
  • Drive standardization of best practices across regions
  • Forecast and secure transportation capacity needs, especially peak
  • Collaborate with a dedicated product & engineering team to ensure we have the technology we need to provide a world class delivery experience
  • Understand our shipping costs, ensure cost accuracy, and make recommendations to optimize transportation costs

You are an excellent communicator and can engage at all levels both internally and externally. You are analytical, data-driven, and have a passion for technology.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Logistics or similar field from a top tier university
  • Min 4 years work experience in transportation, ideally in a similar role with a logistics provider or retailer
  • Proven track record of performance management/improvement
  • Proven ability to leverage data to identify problems and create powerful solutions
  • Self-starter, curious to learn, ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong attention-to-detail, excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment with diligence and accountability
  • Fluent in English and excellent written skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Contract management experience
  • Negotiation experience
  • Proven track record of managing & improving logistics supplier performance
  • Ability to speak any other language in addition to English is a plus, especially Spanish.
